چکیده

We succeeded to develop a reference light source in the range of very low luminance using a double integrating sphere system, and calibrated a commercial spectrophotometer below 1 × 10−5 cd/m2 levels, which is 1/100 lower than the specified limit for measurement. And we improved measurements in the ultra low luminance range of displays using the calibrated commercial spectrophotometer and a dark sphere to suppress the influence of the surround. key words: display contrast measurement, spectrophotometer calibration

Integrating Sphere Functionality: The Scatter Transmission Measurement

The integrating sphere is a simple, yet often misunderstood spectrophotometer accessory for measuring optical radiation. The function of an integrating sphere is to spatially integrate radiant flux in scatter transmission and diffuse reflectance sample measurements. Before one can optimize a sphere design for a particular application, it is important to understand how the integrating sphere wor...

Infrared diffuse re ̄ectance instrumentation and standards at NIST

A spectrophotometer system for spectral characterization of materials in the infrared has been built around a bench-top Fourier transform instrument. Its capabilities include the measurement of directional-hemispherical re ̄ectance from 1 to 18 mm. The spectral re ̄ectance measurement is performed with an integrating sphere with an incidence angle of 88. Both relative and absolute measurements ca...

Detector-Based Luminous Flux Calibration using the Absolute Integrating-Sphere Method

The Absolute Integrating-Sphere Method was developed and introduced by NIST for the realization of the luminous flux unit using an integrating sphere rather than a goniophotometer. The total luminous flux of a lamp inside the sphere is calibrated against the known amount of flux introduced into the sphere from the external source through a calibrated aperture. The key element of this method is ...

Integrating sphere charge coupled device-based measurement method for organic light-emitting devices

An integrating sphere charge coupled device ~CCD!-based measurement system has been developed to accurately characterize the optoelectronic performance of organic polymer light-emitting devices ~PLEDs!. By theoretically analyzing a previously developed lens-coupled method and comparing it with the integrating sphere CCD-based method, we have found that the integrating sphere-based measurement m...

Absolute photoluminescence quantum efficiency measurement of light-emitting thin films.

We developed an integrated monochromatic excitation light source integrating sphere based detection system to accurately characterize the absolute photoluminescence quantum efficiency of commonly used polymer light emitting films without using a reference sample. Our methodology is similar to the method reported by de Mello et al. [Adv. Mater. 9, 230 (1997)] In this Note, we show that the absol...
